Costas Georgopoulos
COSTAS GEORGOPOULOS son of Ioannis, was born on 27th of June 1958 in Athens, Greece. He graduated from Athens Law School in 1981. In the same year, he followed postgraduate studies at University College London, England in the following courses: a) Admiralty Law b) Carriage of goods by sea c) Marine Insurance Law d) International Law of the sea. He is the senior partner of the firm. He acted in the mid eighties on the instructions of major London Law firms, on a number of shipping cases. In 1992, he worked full time in London in association with the London office of a major London Shipping Firm. He has over thirty years experience in shipping and its related disputes including Marine Casualties, Shipping Litigation, Criminal litigation related to shipping matters, Carriage of goods by sea, P and I, FD&D work, MOA disputes and Shipping Building disputes. He has been acting inter alia for the Greek State (Ministry of Energy), the British Ministry of Defence, the Norwegian Hull Club, Lloyds Underwriters, all the major P&I Clubs (the London P&I, U.K P&I , West of England P&I, North of England), major London Law Firms, major ship’s operators (Eletson Corporation , Centrofin Management, Zim Lines, Zodiac) and Banks. He is a member of the Hellenic Maritime Law association. He is qualified to appear before the Supreme Court of Greece.
